More and more people are going on to social media to make friends and join communities that they can relate to and identify with. It has become a great place to connect, especially when it comes to beauty and makeup because of the large audience it has.
Social media has become a place where people can celebrate all forms of beauty, no matter what shape, size, or color it comes in. We are now seeing a celebration of communities that have been shunned and unacknowledged for so long. The beauty industry has always been a very cutthroat and harsh community to be apart of it but now we are seeing people band together and uplift each other and let eachother know how beautiful they are.
Here is an instagram post encouraging women of color to wear whatever lipstick shades they want despite some telling them the color is “too bright” for their skin tone. Not only did the post receive over 1600 likes but there are also several comments agreeing with the post. Posts like this help to build communities within the beauty community on social media platforms.
People are able to come together and form relationships with others who share the same sentiments they do through the use of social media.
